Gunilla put on ice until further notice.

This week I have been continuing to work on our games boss, Gunilla. Last week I made rough animations of all her actions, attack, idle, elemental switch and death. During this week, I refined the line art of Gunilla and added colour and shadows. We decided to use the same colour  as the main characters mask for the bosses one, making them look similar. Making the shadows was difficult, since I’m not very familiar in making shadows in this style of drawing, so I took some help from my group mate, Christoffer, who gladly showed me how he did the shadows. After making the main shadow of the mask, I had to apply it to every frame of all the animations, this took some time. This whole week has pretty much been a rinse and repeat way of working. I made separate layers for flat colours, shadows and highlights. All I did working with this was making layers, and applying said shadows and flat colours, and then moving on to the next frame.

The only changes I made to the mask on the different frames was the small detail shadows on the mask around the eyes and mouth, to add more depth and detail. After a couple of hours copying and pasting, I was finally done with the flats and shadows. However, I later found out that the group had decided to put Gunilla on ice until we finished higher priority artifacts, since we do not have a lot of time left on our project with the final deadline being next week.

It was a bit sad to hear that we might not have enough time to implement the boss I have put so many hours into to make, but that is how making games work I guess. Not everything can be implemented at times. But hopefully, we will be able to finish the other artifacts and finish and implement our final boss!

The assignment I was put onto instead of the boss was to draw the ending screens of the game that will show once one finished the game. These will change depending on how evil or good you have been playing the game. One gets evil by consuming souls and becomes more good by freeing the souls.

I will keep working hard and try to finish everything with hopes that I will get to finish Gunilla. And that is all for this week.
