Game Development- Introduction. Blog Post – 6

Now it’s only a week left before the final presentation occurs. We have all features of our game implemented so we are now focuses on finish all our levels in the game. As i said last week, we will have one tutorial level on the top floor of the building, which then continues with three bigger levels until you reach the lowest/first floor. In my group i am the person who has taken the responsibility to create our level design. I am building each level through an editor, as Sebastian in by group has created. I started last week with building the tutorial level, but i couldn’t finish it because there was missing some props, doors and other things. But this week had Sebastian worked on the editor so you can now place out tiles/floor, walls, doors, evidence, player start position, all props, elevator and ventilation shafts. This made it very easy to create levels, but one thing is still missing in the editor and that is enemies. We want our editor to be able to deploy enemies startpositoins and their patrol pattern. To have enemies in the editor will make it much easier for us to balance the game with just changing the amount of enemies and their movement pattern. As it is right now without an (enemy based editor) it takes a lot of time to calculate all the coordinated of the enemies positions. Hopefully will our editor be 100% finish this weekend, so that we can complete all levels before final. Today i finshed the tutorial level, i has been working a lot on it and i’am really pleased with the design. The only thing that’s missing now on the tutorial is some adjustments with the popup text and feedback to the player. I’am also almost finished with level one and two where the only thing missing is enemies. I’am going to start with the third/last level tomorrow and hopefully finish it this weekend so that we can add enemies on all levels next week. Next week we also want to start playtesting and get feedback from others,so that we may can fix bugs and other stuff. That’s it! Thanks for reading and stay aaawesome! |
