Storyboarding exercise!

Last week’s assignment for my 2d-graphics course was to create a storyboard for a game. I chose to do a Mirror’s edge inspired sequence where the player character receives a valuable bag from a fellow runner. The cops later invade the rooftop where both runners are and the chasing begins.

This was a segment of a scene I have had in my head for quite some time now ever since I first played Mirror’s edge back in 2009. I was so inspired by the art style, the world and the free running aspect of it that I wanted to make my own Mirror’s edge game. If I had more time I would have added more shots to this storyboard. The cops will continue to chase the runners and they will throw the bag amongst them while running on the rooftops. More runners would join and it would be more of a energetic action scene.

The world I imagine them being in is a futuristic shanghai inspired place where you could clearly see the Asian influences but still keeping it in the art style Mirror’s edge has. I know it doesn’t really come through in this storyboard but it’s something I will try to convey when I do my next storyboard.

This is my first storyboard so I was not really familiar with on how to go about creating one but I still think I managed to sell the idea quite well.
