BETA Presentation

Tomorrow is another big day for our game. Tomorrow is the BETA presentation.

In game development there are two major targets to a project. These are the ALPHA release and the BETA release. The Alpha is where you show of the core of the game and what the player will play with. This is the first critical point in a project as it sets the foundation of the game. The second goal is the BETA. This is where you show all the features that your game will have and also much of the graphical presentation of it.

We had the ALPHA Presentation three weeks ago and I wrote about it here in my blog(https://lindermeister.wordpress.com/2014/02/20/alpha-presentation/). I also had a quote from Jay Z,

Don’t be good, be great.

This is a quote that I took with me as I presented the ALPHA and something that I always keep on pushing myself with. I’m here not to be good, I am here to be the greatest.

For tomorrow on our BETA, I’ll be the one that will present our game. I will talk about who we are, what have been good and what have went wrong since the last time. These are the questions a big company and publisher wants to know on regularly basis. Because they need to know if the project is worth to keep on funding or cancel it and derive the resources elsewhere. So there is a lot of pressure in the presentation of both the ALPHA and the BETA.

Many games these days are using a thing called crowd-funding and it works as the gamers on the internet can help funding the game with any amount as they feel fit for themselves. This in return will give the gamers early access to the alpha or beta version and hence giving them a part of the developing process, making their feedback a crucial thing in development. To sell in to the gamers the developers usually present them a pitching video or a presentation of the ALPHA version of the game. This so the gamers will have an easier choice in whether she should help funding the game or not based on what she has found interesting in the presentation.

As this is only a school project we don’t deal with as much pressure on ourselves as this will be developed even if we don’t get everyone interested. With that said I’m not satisfied until we gotten full support from everybody and I’m going to give it all on the big stage tomorrow because that is where I belong. Where the lights are and where I will sell in something to a large crowd. It will be good because I’m confident in myself.

I’m not good, I’m great.

Yours sincerely, Oskar Månsson, Producer, Boreal Entertainment
