Game Development- Introduction. Blog Post – 4

Playtesting is approaching and so even the Beta presentation. We have manged to put together a playable game but we still missing some important parts to really call it a Beta. As it is right now the game is too difficult and the player dont get any feedback about what happens. Feed back is something we working on right now because it’s important for the player to be able to figure out what to do in some situations, otherwise it can be very difficult to play and the game may feel boring. Today we had meeting with Marcus where he checked how far we have come. He also gave us feedback of our current playable game. The most of what he said did we already knew about and we are completely aware of fix these parts. One thing that he talked about was music and sounds. Last week i started to work on a sound manager, but i was not able to finish it. So i continued this week too, to hopefully make it work. Unfortunately i found it harder than i thought and now i don’t exactly know how to move on. To get just one sound or music clip to work is not that hard, it’s almost the same as load sprites or textures. But I’m trying to make a list of sounds in a text file where each sound file have a name. It will then send in the name to be able to play file. I dont think this is the best way to do it because the program has to read unnecessary files and data. And i hasen’t got it to work anyway so i dont really know if i can fix it.
I dont think i explained this so good but i hope someone undertand what i mean or how i do. I has no code to show up because it’s completely messed up right now. But i will keep working with the sound manager and try to get more help from other programmers or techers. And hopfully can i solve everything and then write in the next post how it went.
