Things are moving forward. I’m steadily learning and adapting to the constant streams of information thrown at me. As earlier stated, I felt a bit left behind in the wake of the veterans, but the instructors (or teachers I suppose) has been more than helpful, even if the pace is still a bit hectic.
My little assigned sidekick, a supposed veteran (A guy named Viktor), has been a great tutor, but he’s actually a bit of a rookie as well. This […]

Traveling to Tallinn

Hello there little bloggy. I am going away on a “Jolly” which apparently is ” a trip, esp one made for pleasure by a public official
or committee at public expense”.
Me and my friend Philip are going to Tallinn where we are going to participate in different kinds of workshops on the subject of Non-linear story telling. I will try and give updates everyday on the different perspectives of Non-linearity but I am unsure how it will be in reality. I will try I promise you 🙂
We are currently sitting at Arlanda Airport waiting for […]

Fly or Die with Cellphone controls

Today Rasmus and I sat down to try and port the Cellphone controller mechanics with Fly or Die, after just 3.5 hours of messing with the old Fly or Die code we were able to actually get the controller to work. It’s not perfect, but it works as well as King of the Trill did with the same controllers. We tested it with 4 players and it works surprisingly well and not only that but we didn’t use that much […]

Math is not about memorization.

I’ve always had a bit paradoxical relationship with math. On one hand, i often find math both interesting and fascinating in the way it can do seemingly impossible things. To find numbers using a small subset of what you know, and solving problems that puzzle the brain has always been interesting to me. However, in most math classes, i, like most, have been bored out of my mind.
There seems to be the running paradigm of […]

Let the programming commence!

Started the programming course this Monday. We started with some basic loops and initiations and lastly we made a guessing game where the user guessed a number (1-100) and the game would give you feedback on how close you were to the the correct number.
I have to say, I wished we would’ve started the course earlier, this is probably the most intellectual fun I’ve had in months!
SPOILER ALERT
Other than that I got into Attack on Titan this week. The narrative completely […]

Basics, a dungeon crawler and concrete examples

Good day peepz!
The programming course has started and I’m super exited for that! The first week has passed and the tempo seems fine. The course is teaching really basic things right now, but I learn stuff anyway. I guess it goes a bit fast for people who have never programmed before but if they keep coding every day and think it’s fun… then they will have no problem!
I’ve started creating a dungeon crawler in which I’m learning a lot about […]

Back to basics!

Alright then, back to basics. This week my 2D drawing course started in school and it has so far been a very fun experience. I got to learn how to draw basic humans using simple and fast methods. I’ve never really been taught by anyone on how to draw or sketch before and most of my drawing experience comes from drawing whatever came to mind. I got to do sketching of nude models which felt weird at first but I […]

Everybody Is a Noob Jam

Today I had my second game jam and it was very fun and a learning experience. We had to create a game in Game Maker in 5-6 hours. The game was to be inspired from two words, these were Everyday and Doom. In a team of 3 coders and a poor artist (me) we started planning out the game. Luckily everyone worked really well together and we quickly decided on our idea.
A retro-styled platformer in low resolution was what we […]

Thumbnails

Finally the fun has begun. This week the first 2D graphical course started, I’m really excited what I will learn from this course.
The assignment this week was to do 20 thumbnails of a game-concept. we could choose either Bella Umbrella, a princess with an umbrella that is trying to save her kingdom, or the other concept which was Clash of Heavens, an open 3D platform world full of war and chaos.
I went for the Umbrella concept as I thought the description […]

First Week of the Drawing Course

This first week has been fully focused on seeing and drawing gestures. It has been quite challenging, one keeps going back to “copying” the model continuously. What we have been doing now is practicing to turn that part of the brain off and draw the essence more than the form you are seeing. I didn’t understand this at first, but now I do. I’ve been to three life drawing sessions this week and have developed a lot from just that. […]
