Today we finished a brief but intense workshop using the Enchant.js software. CEO of Ubiquitous Entertainment, Inc. Ryo Shimizu and Mr. Brandon McInnis who had flown from America just to see us and do this workshop with us first year students. It came pretty much out of the blue and I quickly teamed up with Oliver Bolt and Oscar Mohlin. They are two course mates with the most experience in software development prior to our education and they are very driven individuals, I was lucky to team up with them. We were doing some intense work for about 22 hours, pulling in an all-nighter. You play as a zombie leader who chases survivors to collect their brains. When collected, the brains sparkle and give off rewarding sound effects. I put most of my focus on character design and animation. I had never done this before, so I learned how to make running sprites during this process. I didn’t know the animation process properly at first, but I was lucky to be making the zombie animation before the survivor, because then I could blame the jittery and weird running style on the fact that it’s in fact a living corpse. I learned from my hardships and made a better survivor animation. And next time, I will most likely be even better. We were one of the two teams who got picked by Shimizu-san as finalists, which is simply amazing. We will redo and fine tune our game and try to win the first prize, which is a trip to San Francisco to visit the big development companies over there. It confirmed that we had done a good job, which feels amazing. I am very thankful for all of this and will continue to learn during this competition. Here is the game we made during the workshop: http://9leap.net/games/3642
